July, Heat, and VACATION

July is coming to an end and the heat of August has been with us here in the Mid-West for weeks. Oppressive humidity had meant I have only been out on my bike a handful of times, so I'm eagerly waiting for some cooler weather, but that looks to be weeks away at this point.

I'm starting to think about the Christmas light display for this year. The past few years we started way too late and had technical issues that defiantly didn't leave us with that jolly festive feeling while out in sub-freezing weather troubleshooting  lights that turned out to be defective right out of the box.

Here's to cooler weather and more time in the saddle.

Long Time... No Post

Well, another Winter has come and seems to have mostly gone... Spring bulbs are blooming here and even the Redbud is nearing the start of it's bloom, so even tho I woke to snow in the ground this morning I find myself glad for the longer days and warmer weather.

Since my last post, much had changed... I took a new job and started a new assignment last week that will challenge me and means hard work, but more opportunities to prove myself and move forward in my career. I'm also now working where I can take public transportation into work, saving money on gas and wear and tear on the car! I've been comtemplating new car, but for now I'm getting used to my new job, car has been pretty dependable so no rush into a large commitment.

I've been biking more and so far this year have logged 161 miles and finally dropped those pesky pounds I gained over the Holidays. I thought that the work I was doing over the winter would mean I'd be alot stronger this spring, ready to hit the roads, but my legs were pretty weak the few times I've been out biking.

Thats about all for the update... next big deal is getting the old driveway replaced at the house and perhaps making the repairs to the chimney so I can have fires again, but we're going to have to see how things go in the coming weeks!

Post Christmas Let Down

Well, it happens every year, with all the hustle and bustle to get through the Holidays and afterwards there is a bit of a letdown. Family goes on about their lives and you do too. We go nearly two months merry-going and celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas, then there is only the cold loneliness of Winter, where we just try to get through til Spring.

The lights that once helped make the season bright are dark now and It's been too cold and snowy to take down the Christmas light, but they'll be coming down soon, packed away until we get to do it all again.

There is the very lovely sunny afternoons like today, where the sun is warm and bright, these days are actually quite pleasant and make Winter somehow tolerable. I don't know if it's lack of sunlight or just missing my family, I just know I'm tired of Winter, so bring on the sun and bring on the warmth that makes the flowers bloom. Just take away this snow and need to wrap myself head to toe in wool when I go outside!!

Heres to sunny blue skys and more frequent visits with the family!!

New Starbucks Logo Ponderings

I've been thinking about this new logo and already many have some very opinionated views on the logo, but even with some strong thoughts on the new design, I think it speaks to how much people feel connected to something as simple as a cup of coffee.

I said in my last post that I felt the logo would look better as a sepia tone siren, so I took the graphics from Starbucks site and did a little color alteration.

Happy Anniversary Starbucks

Well, it seems Starbucks decided to revamp the corp logo when it celebrates it's 40th anniversary. I for one wished the logo was the muted brown sepia tones of the original. It would have given you a little of that old school we haven't forgotten our roots, but updated the corporate brand, which is the goal.

I do also wonder how much it cost them and if this translates to yet another price hike for your morning caffeine fix.
